Intro

TFZ is a little bit stuck in their designs, but they have an extremely wide range of sounds to offer in all price categories. The LIVE 1 is a budget model with an 11.4mm Graphene Dynamic Driver. It is stated that it has a frequency division (treble & mid/bass), which is made possible by two magnets. However, the sound is still reproduced via a single diaphragm.

At just under 35 €, it joins the S1 and S2 within the company's own products in terms of price.

Handling

Companies like TRN, KZ, or CCA like to use the faceplate design of TFZ. Even if the cheap TFZ-IEMs are mostly made of plastic (like the LIVE 1), they usually show their colours in the faceplate. The LIVE 1 drives this even with 8 different variants to the top.

The comfort is not extraordinary, but due to the typical IEM construction it is very pleasant and quite ergonomic, even if it could be even better. The insulation on the other hand is very good.

The scope of delivery is also quite neat, with 2 kinds of silicone tips (bass & balanced) in the 3 sizes, a T-shirt clip and the somewhat unconventional but for my taste extremely robust and haptically interesting cable, which we already know from TFZ No.3.
I received a small, nice little bag as a gift with my order, which resembles a miniature make-up bag

Sound

The LIVE 1 acts in a W-signature where we have an emphasis in the bass, mids and treble range. This makes the LIVE 1 quite lively, but also a bit too brisk in the mids and sometimes in the treble.

The bass is the core. It plays deep, is very precise and level stable. Here you can hear that the material of the used diaphragm must be very firm and tight. You get impact, details and texture without affecting the midrange.

The mids are very grippy, crisp and direct. Subjectively, I nearly miss the warm bass influence, because the upper mids are a bit too accentuated, which brings voices to the fore and makes them sound a bit shouty sometimes and makes the mids appear very clear, but with female voices I sometimes lose the emotions. Those bring male representatives, or generally lower voices better across. Strings also have a bit too much energy sometimes. Sibilants appear rarely if the song already favours it.

The highs also get two peaks, or if you like, even three. The slightly unpleasant one is the peak around 5 kHz, which is a bit too pronounced. This makes the voices and some instruments present, which is sometimes too demanding for me, even if I like the clear and direct presentation. In addition they make the signature a bit too bright. This is quite common and desired in a V-, or W-signature due to the pushed highs, as it brings liveliness and energy, but this also could works more relaxed. Nevertheless, the trebles are nicely airy and detailed.

If the name Live 1 is supposed to imply a wide stage, then this has succeeded. The stage is actually quite big and spatial. This is partly due to the accentuated treble, but it is also certainly one of the good technical features of the driver. The LIVE 1 can also be heard in the separation and provides good location and a clear instrument definition.

Outro

The LIVE 1 is full of energy, which makes it sound exciting at times, but can also be a problem if he means it too well. The bass is wonderfully tuned, precise and powerful.

For me, the LIVE 1 is a bit too engaged in the long run, but whoever brings a bit more tolerance here, gets a bright and lively IEM, which has a wide stage and lets voices come to the fore.

Legend

Haptic:

Here the processing plays a role and the usability of the scope of supply. Additionally the appearance, wearing comfort and robustness.

Value:
Here I evaluate for me subjectively the price/performance ratio - does not flow into the evaluation!

Z: No Brainer

A: money well spent

B: all right, you can do

C: gives better for less money

D: overpriced

E: collector's price

Daily life:
Here, I focus on the long-term audibility and whether I can hear it well out of the box. This is of course very subjective and therefore only a minimal deduction or bonus.
