Intro

Let's now turn our attention to the big brother of the FORM 1.1. The FORM 1.4 is also a hybrid of dynamic and balanced armature drivers, but has three more of the latter on board. For me, the FORM 1.4 is clearly ahead of its little brother in terms of sound, especially in the mid and high frequencies.

Handling

The packaging and contents are the same as with FORM 1.1, which means that we have a wide range of different tips, although we have to be satisfied with the same rigid cable. This is not bad, but not flexible enough for my taste. On the other hand, one could positively emphasize the robustness.

The case is a bit bigger than the FORM 1.1, but still keeps its excellent ergonomics. Visually, the FORM 1.4 is also an eye-catcher due to the wooden faceplate. Again, not every tip will fit perfectly on the sound tubes, but since the selection of tips is so extensive, you will definitely find something suitable for your ears with the included tips. The isolation of the FORM 1.4 is on the same excellent level as the FORM 1.1.

Sound

The bass is reproduced by the same dynamic driver as in the FORM 1.1, and to be honest, I don't make much of a difference in terms of quantity and quality. This is not a bad thing, because the bass was already the most positive criterion for me with the FORM 1.1. Here too, even more pressure from below and speed would lead to a perfect result for me, but as it is, the bass is already very round.

Let's get to what the FORM 1.4 does better than the small one. The mids also bring the clean, natural sound, but they don't have the sibilant problem (only in the rarest cases) and bring a more pleasant relaxation with the same amount of detail. Here, I do see room for improvement in terms of separation, which is better than in FORM 1.1, but can't compete with a TIN HIFI P1, for example. There is also a bit of residual sharpness here and there, but on the whole the midrange is an update.

FORM 1.4 makes the biggest leap in the treble range. This is much less sharp and fits much better into the overall sound. This makes the FORM 1.4 sound more natural, but also not neutral. The FORM 1.4 appears wider and bigger when it comes to the stage. This makes it easier to locate and also gives individual instruments and voices more room to shine. But I can't certify a completely fatigue-free signature for the FORM 1.4 either. Again I can only highlight the TIN HIFI P1, but also the IKKO OH10, which are in the same price range.

Outro

For me, FORM 1.4 is a clear improvement over FORM 1.1. However, the question remains of course, whether one could not bend the FORM 1.1 by an equalizer, which then makes the 100 € surcharge questionable. Surely you have the possibility to customize the in-ear personally! However, I rate the In-Ears "Out-Of-The Box", because otherwise I could also write page-long essays about the potential of the In-Ears. Everyone should find out for himself, if he has the patience and surely also the experience with it. But even with an equalizer you would not reach the sound quality of the FORM 1.4, but you would get closer.
Anyway, I have grown to love the FORM 1.4 as it is and even if it won't be my daily companion anymore after the review, I will certainly fall back on him from time to time.

Legend

Haptic:

Here the processing plays a role and the usability of the scope of supply. Additionally the appearance, wearing comfort and robustness.

Value:
Here I evaluate for me subjectively the price/performance ratio - does not flow into the evaluation!

Z: No Brainer

A: money well spent

B: all right, you can do

C: gives better for less money

D: overpriced

E: collector's price

Daily life:
Here, I focus on the long-term audibility and whether I can hear it well out of the box. This is of course very subjective and therefore only a minimal deduction or bonus.
